I haven’t been down South for a long time, not even to visit Eilat and the gorgeous Red Sea (my snorkel is fast collecting dust). So I thought I’d take a virtual trip down that way this week via my Pic of the Week. That’s right, it’s off to the South we go, with a nice desert vista to get us in the mood…

Staying in the desert region of Israel for another week, this week’s pic is a fine shot taken down south somewhere. Not sure exactly where, but it reminds me of “golden hour” evenings spent in Eilat, with the moon already out (can you spot it?) and the Jordanian mountains in the background taken on a pink glow for a few minutes. It’s the little details in this one…

This week we trek down to the dusty south, for some desert canyony goodness. This pic is from Nahal Vardit, a small and cute creek in the southern Negev desert. If you’ve never been to the Negev, you really should check it out for some wonderful desert scenery. Especially spectacular in the morning or late evening hours.

This week’s picture comes from down south, in the hot, steamy desert region of Israel (in the mountains around Eilat to be precise). It’s pretty darned hot there these days, as summer kicks in, so if you’re heading in that direction, cover yourself up and drink lots of water. But this picture was taken at sunrise and has a great, cooling effect…
