Picture of the Week CIX
This week we head off down the coast to the beach at Palmachim. About 10km south of Tel Aviv, this is one of the best beaches in Israel, but not quite as amazing as the best beach in Israel…
We love the light and clouds in this one, taken by @sk, a guy from Rehovot, just down the road from Palmachim. He’s got some other great beach shots in his collection.

This week we head off once again to the beach of Tel Aviv. As the beach season gets into full swing, there’s nothing like Tel Aviv beach…and although this shot doesn’t catch the fun and frolic of an afternoon on the sandy shores of Tel Aviv, there’s just something we lurve about it…
The pic was taken by M Bergman, a student from Jerusalem. He’s got some great shots of the Holy City here.

Another glorious shot of the Tel Aviv shoreline, this has to be one of the most photographed views in Israel. I doubt there’s anyone who sees this view for the first time, down at the Yafo end of Tel Aviv, and doesn’t reach for their camera…
The pic was taken by vladsinayuk, a guy from New York who seems to travel around a fair bit. I just love the winter feel to this pic, and those amazing waves.

This week we’re off to the beach in Tel Aviv once more. Not a lot you can add to a picture like this…

This week we head down to the surf of Tel Aviv beach.
One thing you notice when you first step onto the golden sands of Tel Aviv beach is the number of surfers perched on their boards, waiting for the “big one” just beyond the paddling area of the average swimmer. Come rain or shine they’re out there. Inspiring enough that it got me to learn how to surf…
The pic was taken by T Jak, a Russian lady now living in Scotland, who it seems was here for a few days last year.

This week we’re off to Brazil. Er, I mean the sun drenched sands of Tel Aviv beach, of course. But take a look at this pic – despite it lacking any colour, I’m instantly reminded of Brazil. Then again, it’s probably just me…that’s one awesome sky though!
The pic was taken by Yuli G, a guy from Israel with some more mighty fine black and whites in his collection.

It might be October, and nearing the end of October, but here’s a picture that might just convince you Israel is the place to be (especially if you’re experiencing cold winter snaps – ahem, Northern Europe…) come the autumn. Yep, hard to believe, but this week saw another mini-heatwave, and the beach was a great option for cooling down.
The pic was taken a couple of days ago by dalit shacham, a female photographer from Ramat HaSharon, which is just outside Tel Aviv.

As yet another heatwave hits the shores of the Holy Land, and me and the family spend the weekend in Tel Aviv, it’s definitely heading-for-the-beach time. Damn hot here, and there’s nothing like a quick dip in the Med to bring down the body temp, and wash away all that sweat and dust…
The pic was taken by Dan2007, who joined Flickr in 2007 2006. He has lots of pics in his collection, well worth a browse. Love the golden haze in this one, as beach bathers take a quick shower to wash off the sand…
