Michael Jackson in Israel

As the world comes to terms with the death of one of the pop icons of the 20th century, I thought it’d be nice to see Michael Jackson in his prime, during his only visit to the Holy Land back in 1993. He actually performed two shows in Tel Aviv’s HaYarkon Park.

I didn’t go to the Michael Jackson concert in Tel Aviv, something I always regretted, but then I hardly had two pennies to rub together in those tourist-lazing-on-beach days.

Whatever you’ve got to say about Michael Jackson the person, there’s no denying his musical ability, and star power. He truly was an icon of the 80s and 90s. And his planned comeback tour was looking like it might just propel him into the 21st century…

The first clip is of Michael Jackson himself, strutting his stuff onstage in Tel Aviv, the second clip is from a news report about the hysteria in Israel surrounding MJ’s visit. Nice flashback!

  1. Michael Jackson is truly the King of Pop. He made a lot of great songs in the area of Pop Music. His death is a great loss to the music industry.
