If you love your opera, the now annual Jerusalem Opera Festival is the place to be!
This year’s festival will feature two performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto at Sultan’s Pool, a historical site that offers an iconic backdrop of the Old City Walls. The performers include an international lineup, including the Israeli Opera Chorus and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. The opera will be performed in Italian with English and Hebrew subtitles on large screens alongside.
There’s also an amazing looking Opera Paradiso, which takes in elements of classic movies like Pretty Woman, Moonstruck, The Fifth Element, Amadeus, A Room with a View, The Godfather 3, A Quantum of Solace, Bend it Like Beckham and many others. This show is happening on June 23, also at the Sultan’s Pool.
On the last day of the festival (25 June), you can enjoy some opera classics tailor-made for all the family, namely Cinderella and The Magic Flute. Tickets for these shows start at 30 shekels.
Ticket prices for the Sultan’s Pool shows start at 105 shekels (a little cheaper if you’re a Jerusalem resident) – call *9066 for details.
