Mini Art 2013: an amazing exhibition of miniature art in Old Jaffa!

Willard Wigan miniart 2013An art exhibition with a difference hits Old Jaffa – Mini Art 2013 features an amazing collection of miniature art from some of the finest miniature artists in Israel and the world!

UPDATE: The exhibition has now moved down to Eilat until the end of 2013!

This awesome exhibition of art is something a bit special and yes, expect to see masterpieces on the head of a pin!

Among the artists being featured is the legendary Willard Wigan (in the pic above), renowned for his sculptures made from grains of rice, sand, sugar cubes, and even strands of hair! His creations have even become referred to as the eight wonders of the world!

How the heck will you be able to see all those amazing miniatures? Well, no need to worry about a new pair of glasses, there will be magnifying glasses and microscopes to help you out!

There will be a variety of themes at Mini Art 2013, including miniature models, nano art (the intersection of art, science and technology), miniature photography (a scale of 1:87), mini art, mini archaeology, railway models, and mini collections (including collections of shoes and chairs), plus there will be plays, workshops, and a chance to meet some of the artists.

The exhibition runs from March to June 30th at the Old Jaffa Museum of Antiquities. It’s suitable for all the family, with tickets costing 30 shekels for adults, 25 shekels for children (over 2 years old), and there’s also a family ticket that works out at 22 shekels per person.

The Old Jaffa Museum of Antiquities is located at 10 Mifratz Shlomo in Old Jaffa. The exhibition opening hours are as follows:

  • Midweek – groups only
  • Friday: 10:00 to 16:00
  • Saturday 10:00 to 19:00
  • Holidays: 10:00 to 20:00 every day, except holiday evenings.
