Dan Hotels bring you the world’s first kosher cooking school!

Dan Gourmet: Cooking up a kosher storm!

Dan GourmetWhile a political frenzy was whipping up over in the US, a different kind of commotion was flaring up deep in the heart of Jaffa, Israel. Since devoting its dedication to high standards of service from their first opening in 1948, Dan Hotels has developed into arguably the most prestigious hotel chain in Israel. Upping the ante now one step further, the luxury chain has become the first of its nature in Israel to introduce a Gourmet cooking school, ultimately the first kosher cooking school in the world!

Various length courses are designed for chefs of all levels to learn from the most advanced in the country. With kosher food ‘in trend’ at the moment, there are exciting opportunities for international chefs to discover first hand about the delights and traditions of the Israeli kitchen. Upcoming plans include novice courses for locals and boutique culinary cooking tours of the country, complemented by seminars.

At the gala opening of the Tel Aviv based school last week, the VIP crowd enjoyed chef demonstrations and mouth-watering tastings from the head chefs of the Dan Hotels many luxurious properties, including the King David Hotel.

Addressing the audience, Israeli Tourism minister, Staz Misezhnikov, spoke of his excitement for the improvement of hospitality services to the country and ultimately strengthening the opportunities of tourism to Israel. Taking to the stage immediately after Misezhnikov, President of the Chain Ami Hirschtein expressed his pride in the chain in laying the first footsteps for the careers of the next big chefs in Israel. Partnering with ORT Israel in the creation of this new learning center, the chain devotes time to train and educate its team to further perfect the kitchen delights throughout the properties.

Arriving early, Mayor of Tel Aviv Ron Huldai (in the picture above) enjoyed a guided tour of the facilities by General Manager Raviv Shwartz but was sad not to try the colorful array of desserts saying the doctor forbade it. Jumping on the meat stations instead, the animated Mayor entertained the early arrivals by offering his own take on the chefs demonstrations.

Dan GourmetFor such a significant ceremony, a blessing has to come from the top; delighting the crowd by his charismatic presence, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau (in the center of the picture) hung the mezuzah, blessing the new building for great success in spreading the laws of kosher cooking at the highest levels of culinary excellence.

And now for the pictures you really want to see… Here are some of the stunningly presented culinary delights that the guests enjoyed during the evening:

Fantastic article and it shows the reality of real Kosher Cooking. Something we also take pride in at our Kosher Hotel. We would love to work together if possible.
