It’s your round: the Jerusalem Beer Festival!

| August 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Jerusalem might not have quite the nightlife that Tel Aviv does, but the locals do love their beer!

And that love of all things yeasty, hoppy and green bottled has turned itself into a fully blown Beer Festival – in fact, the 7th annual Jerusalem Beer Festival.

This year the Beer Festival takes place over two days, August 31st to September 1st, at the Old Train Station on Derech Hebron in Jerusalem.

The action kicks off at 6pm and runs til midnight. You’ll find lots of beer on sale (duh!), with an estimated 50,000 liters of beer from over 150 different brands worldwide to choose from.

Expect to mingle with a fairly youngish crowd, with a fair sprinkling of tourists, with some 20,000 people in total expected to attend.

Once you’ve supped a beer or three, you can do your thang to some local bands who’ll be performing at the Beer Festival, including Mercedes Band and Beit Habubot (one of my wife’s faves). Bring your dancing shoes; after these gigs there’ll be some DJs (Elad Veron and Dror Shalit) spinning some tunes.

As well as the beer, music and beats, you can also check out a ton of food, various accessories, and even a live demo of the beer production process, just like you should at a beer fest!

It will cost you 30 shekels to get in, though 25 shekels if you’re a Jerusalem resident, a student, or soldier.

You can read more about the event on Facebook. For additional info, check out the festival’s website: http://jerusalembeer.com
