A Beach Party…in Jerusalem!

Yes indeed, a beach party in Jerusalem! Eighty tons of sand, some beats, some ice-cream…ha, who needs Tel Aviv?!

Jerusalem is hardly known for its beach scene (probably because it’s an hour away from the nearest beach!) but this summer things are a -changin’! Next Friday, July 29th, starting at 13:00, you will be able to don your bikini or your speedos, and, of course, your luverly flip-flops, and head on over to the beach party at the Malcha Mall parking lot…

Grab your bucket and spade, as the eighty tons of sand being shipped in should be enough for everyone. And if you can’t grab a space to get all sticky and sweaty and covered in sand, head over to the various stands offering ice-cream, watermelon and even popsicles to cool yourself down.

You’ll also be able to practice your matkot swing (the traditional drive-you-mad- paddle ball game played on most beaches), or your volleyball. And if you bring your dancing shoes (or flip-flops), you can do yout thang to the beats of  DJs Oren SESTA Naim and Roi Mualem.

The beaches of Tel Aviv might not be quaking in their Crocs just yet, but nice to see Jerusalem sharing the beach love!

I write comments, click LIKE, words of encouregment, of support to Israel, admiration, etc.. Never have I needed to reproach, correct anything of the news or photos I receive about Israel. Actually I could say that I would be an “activist” for Israel!
This is the first time ever that I find myself to have to say words of correction. Based on the Bible. The Almighty asks His people to be Holy as He is Holy! Some of His people indulge on polluting His land, defiling Israel, and He declares that He will cleanse His people and His Land!
Remember the golden calf episode? Still going strong, he`. And in Jerusalem, that we are trying to keep united??? And this is what the world sees? And also fanatic Islamists??? LORD have mercy! Shalom to Yerushalaim! But also Your Holiness prevailing! With love for the Israel of GOD. <3

Dear Annie Fabry. I appreciate your comments for your concern to Israel. However, I think it’s better if you reach out for your friends, loveones, your country men before being concern to a foreign land. Atleast for Israel, God has a promise to them. And that is for Him to protect and save Israel being his country and people. Whatever happends to Israel, God will fulfill his promise to his people. For whatever God has spoken, it will come to pass. Everything that is happening to Israel has a purpose. So better prepare ourselves, our loveones and God will take charge of Israel, for this is His country and the Jews are His people.

Why won’t you allow my comment to go trough? Is it because it’s embarassing?
You know very well that the God of Israel is not pleased with His people defiling themselves and HIS HOLY CITY, Jerusalem!
And yes it is the perpetration of the Biblical Golden Calf! I love Israel beyond your imagination! Supported
    Israel for over 30 years!
    She is the Almighty’s Land!
If I compromize I would be a coward.
I love you Israel of God! Shalom to Jerusalem!

I love you Israel of God!
May God forbid such defilement of His Holy City.

I don’t think that the Rabbis have endorsed this type of advertisment.
It would not attract decent people, especially those who consider Israel, particularly Jerusalem, the land of G-D .
Please, allow G-D to bless Israel!

I love Israel, especially Jerusalem, the City of the Great King,I have been there before, weeping as we were leaving.
Hoping to go back one day, still hoping…
But if I do I assure you I would not support the man made “beach of Jerusalem” because the G-D of Israel and mine, would not be supporting it either, because it is not HOLY.
I pray for the Peace of Jerusalem XXX

Annie, please keep in mind that many (if not most) Israelis aren’t religious. And, while Jerusalem is indeed a city of great religious and historical importance to so many religions, it is still a “regular” city as well. People live there, they work there, raise their families there, and yes, even party there (the city has many restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes and other places of entertainment). I realize the picture I’m painting probably doesn’t mesh with your beliefs, but these are the realities of this very special city, where regular Israelis lead their regular lives.

    Amy,
I totally understand your concern, and would like to interject as a Jerusalem resident. Understanding whats happening here in terms of culture and tourism, I really think you may be missing a crucial point.
Of course Jerusalem is a centre for religious pilgrimages and a gathering point for all walks of life, I just wonder if you, Amy, understand that there are many aspects of Jerusalem OTHER than religion??
It is crucial for cultural activities to take place that are aimed at the younger generation so as to keep the next generation interested and thriving in the holy city.
Whilst you are right that this isn’t necessarily the holiest of activities that could be taking place in the holy city, the event is taking place in a relatively private and enclosed location that will not immediately affect any neigh sayers and will encourage young people to enjoy being in Jerusalem.
I thank you for your concern, Amy, and look forward to welcoming you to Jerusalem to experience EVERYTHING it has to offer.

You know something? After my 1st comment, I clicked
“Submit”. It was rejected with the words: Your message is awaiting moderation. So I tried to moderate it. Same answer. You can count how many times I did this. I realized I wasn’t going to be allowed to be critical by the censors!
This is the very 1st time I have stood up and only in the name of righteousness.
I had to do it because I love Israel and Jerusalem the heart of Israel.
God is cleansing the whole World, just look around.
He is a loving Father and He corrects whom Heloves.
We keep praying for Israel and the Shalom of Jerusalem.

      Annie,
When I first saw this link and that picture, I was taken back as well. I support Israel and someone said it’s just an ordinary city and NO, it’s NOT. It’s God’s Holy Land…and I thought the ad was rather distasteful as well. So, Annie…I stand up with you and share in your comments about not defiling God’s Holy Land.

Jennifer – Do you live in Israel? Jerusalem certainly has its spiritual/religious atmosphere and elements, but it also has hideous traffic jams, excellent restaurants and pubs, decent shopping, hi-tech, crime, litter, etc. Shall I go on? You can be religious there, you can be secular there, and you can be anything in between. As Ruth pointed out above, there is so much more to Jerusalem than just religion.

Annie – Moderation doesn’t mean that your comment was rejected. It simply means that the site owner has opted to view all comments before they’re posted. It’s something that many website owners (myself included) do to ensure that spam comments get stopped before they appear publicly. It’s not about stopping critical comments at all – it’s about stopping advertisements.

Annie, I suspected from your comments that English was not your first language and now I see that confirmed. When it says “Your comment is awaiting moderation” it does NOT mean that you must make it more moderate; it means that it is waiting in a queue to be viewed by a moderator (some one who checks the comments) and when he/she has checked it, they will publish it (if it it does not break the rules).

All you had to do was wait and your comment would have appeared – as indeed several versions of it have!

Having said that, I disagree with you. Firstly, you do not speak for God. Secondly, it is not for you to tell people how they should or shouldn’t have fun. What is it you object to? Sand? Ice cream? or swimwear?

It’s a very ‘In your face’ photo, and pretty much what we see on our beaches every Summer here in Oz. I bet if I went to Jerusalem right now, those girls with the over developed bust size would be nowhere in sight! I’ve visited a few times, and everyone in Jerusalem dresses very modestly, I was proud to be Jewish. Whoever took that photo and chose to publish it, is just trying to make Israel look as cool and bad as the rest of the world. Don’t believe everything you see, especially on the internet.PS. I keep imagining what those girls busts will look like when they’re 50! Hahahaaaa!

Hi Rhonda, it looks like you got the same treatment! Liza and Ruth I wish you could see that I am interested in what God says, love Him and therefore respect His ordinances, I love human beings and feel compassion for their weaknesses, as I have weaknesses too, I fail and confess My failures, and God forgives me, blessed is HE.
I do understand that Jerusalem is a city where people live, work, go to school, buy, sell. There are restaurants and I have been there! I am not motivated by religeous places and artifacts at all, although I can be moved by certain EVENTS that took place there.
But what motivates me to anger, oh so much, are the advertisements that scream :* Come all you people! the Golden calf is still here! Never mind that GOD sees it as defiling HIS CITY! Did He really say this? Where?? Why shouldn’t Jerusalem have fun like the rest of the world where women are allowed to expose their nakedeness? And …all the rest?*
Oh, this is SPAM to me!
Dear Ruth and Liza, and whoever else, no you don’t understand my concern, only the Holy Spirit of God can reveal it, and teach how to love and obey HIM, and reveal to man’s heart His TORAH !!!
    Those who asked Him, received.
Please! Before anyone wants to argue, ask God to give you His Holy Spirit( Ruach Ha Kodesh)and read the Bible! I am not inventing things.
God bless us all, Israel and the Shalom of the Almighty be upon His Jerusalem XXX

It is wonderful to see so much celebration breaking out in Jerusalem. It is only a foreshadow of the greatest eternal celebration that is coming. What ever photo was used to promote this it doesn’t really matter. Two beautiful children of God. and many say to those that are offended, ” Let those without sin cast the first stone..” for that was not the intentions at all… It’s what God is placing in the hearts of all, the love, joy, peace, brotherhood, and the rest of the world is always effected by what takes place in Jerusalem. The Spirit of the Lord is in the midst of it all…and it is God that gets the glory always..

Annie, I am a believer in Jesus Christ and have been to Israel a few times myself. My heart will always belong to Israel. I just see a problem with you defending God. I witness for Him but He does not need for me to defend Him. He knows whats in the heart of men and will take care of it. Jerusalem is like it was 2000 yrs ago, a busy bustling city of all kinds. You may have only been to parts that are portrayed or as we know to be Holy but like any other city, it has its seedy parts. I don’t condone the pictures displayed either as I don’t see Jerusalem or Israel in that light. I was brokenhearted at one time by something I was exposed to by one of its own residences there. I learned then that everything is not as it seems. There is evil everywhere. You cannot however go around condemning everyone. Remove the plank from your own eye before trying to remove from others. Oh and too the woman who made the comment about what those girls breast will look like at 50…I’m large breasted naturally at 41yrs of age and so is my 63yo mother and we still look pretty good. Stop being a hater

As an Israeli watcher ( i’ve never been there), i thought this photo and story was a bit over the top. Evidently there are sides to the Holy Land that are less than “Holy”, in my humble opinion. I know one thing, that these places/activities have to be strictly zoned. The Charedim would never tolerate them infringing on thier neighborhoods. Israel is changing, becoming much more like the west and shockingly has its own gay parades. This is a good thing? BTW, when i saw those girls photos, yes, attractive, but thier pulchitrude is surgically enhanced. Having worked in a hospital and having some “worldly” familiarity, i can tell you as a man it is a major turnoff. Keep to what nature and G-d gave you
