A Thriller in Tel Aviv

Michael Jackson might have left us, but his music and his moves remain. This Friday afternoon sees the Thriller flash mob strike at Tel Aviv’s Dizengoff Square fountain, where hundreds of people are expected to suddenly leap into zombie lurch mode at 2:00pm.

Dance routine tributes to the King of Pop start at 12:30, but it’s the 2:00pm Thriller tribute which is expected to pull in the crowds. And hopefully some of the crowd will have polished up their lurch and head toss and be ready to join in…

Flash mobs have been all the rage the last couple of years, and tribute flash mobs for Michael Jackson especially popular. There are lots of great clips out there on YouTube, but I think this one from Belgium is one of the best, thanks to some great editing and sheer numbers of people…

If you need to learn the moves to Thriller for the Tel Aviv tribute, here’s the clip for you. Looks mighty complicated to me, especially after a couple of Friday lunchtime beers…

And if you think you’re a dead-ringer for Jacko, there’s a nice little prize just after the Thriller dance. Get that glove out, the white socks on, and start working on that trill scream. You really could be a Thriller.

Check out the Facebook page (only in Hebrew I’m afraid) for more details.

Here’s the original clip in its entirety.
