Israel Photo Festival 2009
If you’re interested in checking out some of the top photographers in Israel, you might want to get yourself over to the Israel Photo Festival, appropriately held in Tel Aviv’s most photographed neighborhood, Neve Tzedek (in a warehouse opposite Etzel House and close to the sea).
The festival kicks off on Saturday night (3rd October) at 8pm (til 11pm), and then runs through to Thursday the 8th October, every day from 10am to 11pm. Tickets are only 25 shekels per person, kids under five get in for free (it’s also Sukkot week so a lot of kids will be on holiday, so good thinking from the organizers).
There are a lot of exhibitions to catch, including Israel’s up and coming photographers and “Born Somewhere”, an exhibition of award winning Francesco Zizola’s 13 years of photo-journalism. Zizola won Photo of the Year in 1996 for this photo.
And as the kids will probably be in abundance, it’s good that they’ve also got a photo workshop planned (between 10am-4pm only), which will actually be held every hour with a maximum of 15-20 kids per workshop.
Looks like a winner to us. For more details, check out the website (only in Hebrew unfortunately, but there are some good YouTube clips to check out): www.pov2009.co.il
