Bar BaKfar

Zepra, Tel Aviv

If you fancy splashing out on some decent Asian fusion food, as well as on an expensive bottle of plonk, Zepra could be the place for you. Almost two years old now, this restaurant seems to have carved itself a nice little niche in expensive, but quality cuisine.

Zepra is a very modern and stylish restaurant, and you can tell a lot has been invested in this place; high, mirrored ceilings, with walls covered in weave-like/bamboo like material, it’s a great space.

Try the exotic juices (such as the apple/beetroot/ginger/lime/elderberry concoction) and the great sushi and noodles, but watch out for the “extras” that the waitresses like to push your way. They end up giving the restaurant that well earned “expensive” tag…

And if you like your beer on the exorbitant side, Zepra is for you: 89 shekels for a 750ml bottle of King Cobra. OK, it’s 8.5% alcohol, so double the strength of ordinary beer, but still…

All in all, a great place to impress visitors to Israel, to visit yourself if you’re on a trip to the Holy Land, or if you just fancy some quality, expensive food. Not a place you’ll find me every week, but worth checking out. I was there on a Friday night and it wasn’t too crazy, another plus for the place.
