Israel’s quest for World Cup glory…

…is a never-ending heartbreaker that has frustrated football fans in the Holy Land for many, many years. As we hit World Cup qualifying time once again throughout the footballing world, I thought this clip summed up Israel’s footballing woes rather cutely. Yes, it really has been 39 years since Israel’s last World Cup appearance in Mexico. And what are the odds on this video being relevant for next summer (2010 World Cup in South Africa)?

Opponents please note: Israelis really are this easily distracted!

What can I say, sometimes I’m very relieved to have been born an Englishman (just don’t mention any 1990 and 1996 semi-final penalty shoot-outs…)!
