Bar BaKfar

Alright Mate!

Mate (yes, that’s its name) – This pub in the heart of Tel Aviv (well OK, the northern end of Dizengoff Street) is a great little neighbourhood pub. I like it a lot, it’s not really trying to be something it’s not, it’s a drink some beer, shoot some pool, bump into new friends kind of place. You could even take a date, though come early at the weekend because it fills out pretty quick. Waitresses are cute (aren’t they always in this kind of pub?) and the music is fine.

One thing I should point out – if you are an aggressive non-smoker, this place is not for you. The Health and Safety laws have failed to stick in this pub, and as a result, 90% of the people in this place are smoking, if not more. So no huddles of nervous looking smokers at the entrance…

    Hello..

Do you need an ID to go to clubs and bars as well as drink in Israel?

    Lily,
Officially you’re not supposed to be served alcohol if under the age of 18, but I’m really not sure how much this is put into practice. If you look fairly mature for your age, you’ll get served and you’ll probably get into almost any bar or club without an ID.
